    Default 1st jig post

Been tying for a few months thought I'd post my fav colors here in north La. Any feedback or advice is appreciated. 1/8 jigheads from grousefly, everything else from flatfish. Thanks for great products and service guys.

Jigs look good.I have found that an eye buster will remove all the paint from the hook eye and just looks a lot better to me.I was told that and just do it everytime now.Makes a much cleaner looking finished product.Just my opinion though.

Yeah the gray/chartreuse is a darbonne classic. I always used the black lake 120's and caught alot of fish but I definately catch more on the bou.

Are you using jig heads with a collar? If you are then you should try without. I ask that because it seems your body gets bigger near the head. Also on a 1/8 oz and if using #2 size chenille you should wrap it.

Still they will catch fins I feel sure. Colors are a personal thing with each fisherman and hard to say since lakes are different even if close to each other there will be differences. I live on Toledo Bend and can get to a boat launch on Sam Rayburn about 25 miles from me and there are similarities and there are differences. Come colors work better on Big Sam and others work better here on T-Bend.

Skip, when you double wrap the chenille do you start the tie in at the jig head wrap to the hook and then back?

Jigs look good. Have been looking for a good gold paint and I like yours. What are you using. Thanks, Pop

Start at the head and just wrap the chenille out to where you want to stop just as I am sure you do now, but then once you get back to the head in place of cutting the chenille and finishing, just wrap the thread around to trap it there and then just like the first time lay the chenille on top of the first wrap down the hook shank then wrap the thread over the chenille down to your stopping point then back to the head with the thread and then wrap the chenille back to the head for the finish.

Hope that is clear as it is easier to do than to tell.
