    Default Tied some wascals

Yep wifey sprung me from rehabilatation prison today and I whipped up some wascally wabbit jigs up today.

Sure was nice to sit out in garage today and do a little tying. For those of you who like or might want to try tying with rabbit. If enough interest is expressed to another thread I will post a rabbit jig swap under the swap forum.

I agree but put a rabbit jig in a glass of water , clear glass , tie piece of string to jig at the end of some pole. Try to hold it perfectly still. You will probably come to the conclusion I did. They are a pain but worth it. That s why I'm thinking about running a little rabbit jig swap. Maybe encourage somebody to try a new material.

    x2! Mums the word.... :D

Really like the last one pictured, gray/white. The body material looks very cool, I know i've seen it, but what is it again - Mylar???? Also, did you put a hole in the rabbit hide to slide over the hook on the double bunny ones? Can't quite see all the handy work under the fur.....

You should be able to cast those flies on a spinning rod fairly easy with the weighted hourglass eyes.

Yep got a special bodkin that I poke with Russ. I don't cast that much with them prefer fishing vertical out of boat or off dock. Also using Tear Mender to fuse the two strips at tail.

The stuff you see under the fur is EZ body braid I wrap yarn on like chennile to use as filler then slide hollow braid over the yarn. Tie down both ends and then mount hour glass eyes. Coat with sally hansen hard as nails over the whole thing and let dry. Using yarn instead of glue to build up body a whole lot neater.

You planning on getting in the FUN FUDD SWAP if I decide to run it. I think I got a real whizzer planned for that one . Thought maybe it would get some other tyers to try some wabbit.

I just figured this out recently, but have not coated mine. The wider base makes it easier to tie the rabbit strip to. Also have been doing this on craft hair jigs, works good to build up a little body to tie to when using collarless heads and seems to hold the hair easier if something is a little soft underneath.

They look good Hays. Sure beats rehab I'm sure. I'll have to watch this one, allergies tear me up with bunny fur but I like the way they're turning out.

Skeet - If you want to just see the action of them, PM me your address and I will send you a couple tied jigs. You may just want to buy some surgical masks, pop some xtra benadryl and tough it out to tie a few when you see what they look like in the water!

Here are some pretty simple ones, 2 strips with either flash or bou sandwiched between them. Once you get used to working with it, it's not too bad.

Top 2 are on 1/8th and bottom is on 1/4th. I made a few of the bigger ones i plan to use for slow trolling, kind of a "working" weight as a drop shot with a fly or smaller jig above. Would call it spider rigging, but with a 2 pole limit in OH, my spider would only have 2 legs. :p

I love the color of this body... twisted together black chenille and pearl cactus chenille. Looks alot better in hand than in this pic.
