They look good. Solder my own as well but never thought about adding a split ring or using a blade with a hole it in. I just usually use Aberdeen hooks with long shanks and attach on the hook eye. I think the split ring would allow more movement, great idea.

    Default thanks guys

we're still working with it I don't know if I will get into it hot and heavy I think they will work okay. work on some different paint schemes they probably would be a big hit in some of your northern states where they do a lot of ice fishing.

Both proven colors, they should do well. Jubs, a cross lok would improve action on those already made.

pbug2009 I've made these up many years ago but I did not tie any anything on behind. I used a straight blade then in nickel they work very well and caught fish. you will find the action in these very different from jig the ones I posted here are homemade by soldering a hook onto a willow leaf blade. if you try this make sure the hook is gold finish. Otherwise you will have problem soldering make sure that you scratch the blade first before adding solder good luck if you try it.

skeetbum there are many different ways of using this ice jig. Not sure what you are talking about cross-lok . We use this ice jig with a split shot or use it as a double we put a 1/32oz. jig on the bottom in use the ice Jig above.

Bob - Been making my own ice spoons and pinmins for years. Yours look great. Try soldering a jig hook on a couple and try that. I like the horizontal lie that the jig hook gives. The smaller ones I tip with maggot or waxworm. The bigger ones I usually tip with minnow or minnow head. Never did tie feathers or hair on one though Just never thought of it.

I have used them lately with a little plastic but not enough to comment on their effectiveness that way. Tipping them with bait and fishing them thru the ice is the way I use them 90% of the time. They can be extra deadly on big perch. Bluegill jump all over them also. Crappies do also but not as good as perch and gill.

By the way the paint job on yours looks great.

Default you'll have to try it

hay47 you'll have to make one up what marabou and let me know what you think. it has quite an action in the water with a marabou did you paint your ice jigs if you do make sure you paint a couple with glow in the dark white. We noticed this has a bearing on crappie before dark in daylight. We made some up similar I should say that I made some fireflies don't tell the boys up north I did . But they were a duplicate or a carbon copy of the firefly that works really well with the glow-in-the-dark head. We are going to paint up a bunch of Sunfish jigs with glow-in-the-dark to see how they work as you probably know those little guys have a different action in the water. They have not been on the market out west here because they are considered a ice jig. So we will be interested to find out if they sell are all out here I should have said it will be interesting to see what people think:D.
