    Default Marabou question

How far past the end of the hook should the marabou extend? Say from the back of the 1/16 jig head w/#4 hook(example)to the end of the marabou?

I say that it shouldn't be longer than the shank of the hook
"Mister, I love the way you wear that hat."
    "You don't know nothin'."

I look for the overall balance with the overall size of the jig. Skinny jigs don't get as much, bulkier a little more. I tie for what appeals to me, and have learned a little more all the time from the others out here. Look at all of everyones posts and you'll get areal good idea what the accepted norm is. I will say that I tie bluegill offerings a bit shorter cuz theyre notorious for tail grabbing.

For Blue Gills, I would make them short and not much past the hook, but for crappie I would probably tie them so the entire jig is 2"-2 1/2", but that's me and what I use fishing.

One thing is you wouldn't be using a #4 hook for Gills though most likely.

I do from the head of the jig to the bend of the hook, past the bend of the hook.
