    Default Tying up a Storm

I love this kip tail stuff.I can't stop.I made a couple of these last night.I thought that I would catch some bass or a crappie this morning but all I got was a couple of bluegills.I really like this pattern. The jig was almost as long as the gills were. This stuff makes my mind go wild. Was pretty windy out there this morning at daylight.

    Thumbs up bluegills

if the bluegills like them you must be doing something right I think they'll catch plenty of crappie in bass in the future.

Pour those with a size 6 hook and tye them the same way, yes kip tail is addictive when you finally get the hang of keeping it connected to the hook.

I really like the way you left the ends un-even, I don't like trimmed ends.

The trick if you want a 1/8th-1/4" neck like on my site, is to make the first 3 or 4 wraps very tight. It takes practice. I had a few dozen that I'd tie, they'd look good, but pull and they'd slip right out. For most materials after the first 3 wraps you're just adding bulk.

I too like that you didn't trim the ends and that is the way to have a good looking tail. Make sure you have a good size (length wise) base of thread wrapping well on the hook shank before you tie on your materials.

Good going though and you will only get better.

Now y'all got me wantin to go pull on my kips to see if they stay put. MAN!! They look good, AZ. I can think of a couple of things to play with adding to the long body. Tinsel, flash, real short. Maybe I'll tie and post one tomorrow that shows what I mean. Just food for thought. Nice work.

This is what ran thru my mind when I saw yours. Little bits of tinsel make the flash and a couple pieces of red crystal in the tail. That stuff isn't easy to get to cooperate. Just input.
