What sizes do most of you tie? Do you use jigheads with or without collars.

for freckles", I like to start at 1/16oz. and when playing down size games w/ them in their finicky moods in the colder months ,its then on to 1/32,1/24,1/64,and as small as 1/125oz. depending on whether I'm tying jigs i use the non collard jigs and if using plastics ,i then pour my jigs w/ collars.Hope this was helpful to you..."?

To the 1st question, I tie on 1/4, 3/16, 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32 of an ounce heads. My sizes below 1/8 of an ounce are for crappie.

Secondly, I use both types of heads. Adjust your thread size accordingly.

Sizes I tie are bucktails in 1/2,3/8,1/4,1/8 for sauger and walleye. Crappie jigs are 1/8,1/16,1/20,1/24,1/32,1/48,1/60,1/64,1/80.Smaller sizes for gills and trout are 1/64 to 1/128. I like a little variety.I use mostly without a collar. If I tie with a collar they will be either a ball collar or one I call a beveled collar like the ultra minnows. I wouldn't personally use jigs with a barbed bollar for tying.

Jighead without the collar. 1/16th; 1/32nd; and 1/64th will take care of most Crappie or Bream. Kiptail, neck hackle or Marabou mostly. That is what I fish with. That is what I tie.:D

tying on a collar with hair is a little tricky, tho it makes a great hair jig. I use kiptail hair for pinkie type jigs tipped with a minnow or worm, and bucktail for tying small bucktail jigs for casting for crappie. I tend to use heavy thread for hair, and really bear down on it, and use a little super glue too, keeps from having to make 100 wraps to hold the hair tight.

    Default Got Hair?

Shows my inexperience. I didn't know to tie one without a collar so all mine are on a collared head. Tied a few tonite and if I can figure out how to get the pics in on my wifes new laptop y'all will see em too. I start out a little loose until the head end is wrapped and wont flair, then tighten it up. Bucktail doesn't flair as bad as body hair but they both have their place.
