Since you are leaning gray thought I would tell you about one of my customers that had an order a couple weeks back. Out of 5 colors he got a dozen each color and only the all blue jig had a tail color other than gray so I think he must do well with that.

When going natural (and in somewhat clear water) I think gray is a real good choice.

Well it's time to tell the tale. Hit the water early(before the sun) on a rare morning for me. I usually don't fish the days I have to work but the weather is cold, windy and spittin rain as predicted so it was a good choice. I started out with the gray with black hackle. Caught 1 or 2 but not real hot action. Went to one with a splash of red, about the same story. Now the one voted most favored (basic gray) produced as y'all said it would. A fish on each of the first 3 casts, and several more after that. Gave one away to an old gent I met, said it looked good and then asked me what to do with it. Oh well, I tried. I went to a basic black/chart number and did as well as the gray. When I tried one with chartreuse tail and hackle, and black chenille it only produced 1 fish. My guess is that some days they like the slow, fluffy fall of the hackle jigs and some they don't. Worked good last trip, I'll try it again in a while. Had 9 good keepers to finish the day, and the water was like a mirror for hours. Check out my post" A few pics" on the main forum. 2 of those were shot that day. Thanx for all the response.

Can't wait to see how you tie those. I want to take a stab at it myself.

Gray has been good for me this year in the snake River . Gray and brown are my favorite colors to use.
