Default Looking to Invest in Good Rotary Vise

Been tying for a little over a year now. I find that I am ready to graduate to a quality rotary vise.

Seems like I have got tons of useful info from you guys on here and I appreciate it. If I could prevail upon your knowledge once again.

What would be the most bang for the buck rotary vise available? I am not afraid of spending money for good quality. But sometimes a high price alone does not reflect quality or workmanship.

I realize that some of you will have a bias based on your history. That is all well and good. The vast majority of advice I have seen on this forum reflects thought and sound judgement.

I'd check out this vise review at Fly Fish Ohio.

    Vise Shootout

Read the entire article or go straight to the summary. You just might become interested in a Danica Danvise.

BTW, my personal vise is a Griffin Superior 3ARP.

Personally I own a Nor-Vise and a Renzetti Salt Water traveler with cam Jaw. Like both a lot, but if you are not doing dubbed bodies and some other of that type tying there are several that are great. One is my Renzetti at $210 for the Saltwater traveler, another is a Griffin Montana Mongoose or a Peak at $140 or so and all of these should make you happy. it is more of what you want to pay, but make sure it has a cam jaw.

I prefer something made sturdy, because I apply alot of force when tying hair with 210 denier thread. I already have a dynaking voyager, and would like to have an hmh vise as well.

Buy the best rotary vise you can afford. One feature on my vises I can't do without is a cradle arm which holds your bobbin while you are doing other things.I have two Renzetti's and a Dynaking Voyager II and all have it.

I have a Danvise and I like it but I would definitely get the extension arm. I haven't tried any other brands of vises though so I am just going on what I have used and I like it. Maybe some day I will upgrade but for now it serves it's purpose and for the prices it's hard to beat.

What are the advantages of the montana mongoose over the odyssey cam?
