I've been crimping on splitshot for jigheads for a long time. Once they are powder painted they won't fling off with use. Lately, I've discovered the Clam Shot at Bass Pro Shops. The clam shot are oval and when mashed down fairly flat in the crimping process, they take on a nice minnow head appearance. They come in a variety of sizes to accomodate different sized jig hooks. I powder paint the heads, then use a stick on eye with an overcoat of nail polish.

I use to do it that way with the clam shot before I started pouring and it does work.
