Default Tying questions and supply questions?

To start out, been looking at getting Fishair found one place that sells it by the pound. Anyone else know of any places that sells it? This place is in Or.
Also seen a product called unique hair, anyone used it? Its an offspring of Super hair ( Super hair I have is way to thick) but the unique hair shows its softer, thinner and more supple fiber. This may be a good product also just wondering if anyone else has used it for jigs Bigger jigs for Stripes and such.

Also theres a lady here that ties bigger jigs. This deal you put the jig in the vise then this deal spins around the jig head wrapping the thread. Anyone seen something like this or know where they sell them. Made tying big jigs fast as its for production.
Will be tying a few hundred jigs per day from 1/2 oz up. So looking for something that can speed up the process.

I have seen an automatic bobbin before but have not seen very many positive comments. The ones I have seen that liked it say it took a while to get used to using it and didn't like it for larger flies and materials.

As for fish hair, I have heard a lot of good things about it. By the pound COULD be the way to go but a wholesale company could be much better. I have used a little of it and I know I would not want to simply get a loose bag of it and try to use it in mass. I wish I could help you with a supplier but neither Hagens nor Lakeland had it in their catalogs. Might try Umpqua.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Say Red "I think the vice your looking for is called the Norvice system.I checked them out" there fur high out put production jig making..."NEATO" !!!You'd do well to check'em out bud"lil costly", but once ya get the hang of it like anything else,"it would proly be a sound investment"!:D"Not real sure ,but i think skip has one?He could proly put ya on to one.

I use the "Unique hair" made by "Best way" i believe?"its all right, cheap"and looks pretty good on small ,and the larger saltwater jigs"I like the translucency, and it can also be added to other material as a filler...

    Thanks Guys.

Fish 4 All I think even in bulk it still has one end that connects it.

Grubfarmer67 thanks for the info on the Unique hair. I will get some and see how well it works. May be just what i'm hunting.

Have seen an automatic fly tying machine on ebay before and have read the thread - here - where someone has actually made one. you might have to research it more. The machine I saw on ebay wasn't cheap.

Also - years back - Herter's made a production model (gear driven) fly tying vise - can post pics if you are interested.

Yes I have a Nor Vise, but I am not going to tie 200 a day on it. However it does help with speed in places. Love my Nor Vise especially for wrapping thread and dubbing work, but know they are not cheap at all especially when you have as many conversion kits as I do.

crappieday made one and posted something about it on this board. You may want to PM him.

Hey Guys CrappieDale Here, use several differant vises including rotary type vises but only one comes to mind as far as my favorite and Thats a Peak brand vise, our people made a change this year and whent with cost plus durability its worth it if ya hand Tie alot of crappie jigs, but if not any of those that have been mentioned will work as well i really like the peak visus there brawny and ours take a beating. Orvis offers a wide variety im sure your going to make a good choice.

    Good Luck
