Heres a shot of the previous but also a pretty loud color on these hand tied crappie jigs. Were i fish especially this time of the year on lake Tawakoni stain water conditions are almost all the time present. Wind gets up on the lake depending what direction its cooming out of this crappie jig color combinations work good for me!
Whats your opinion on water clarity, and how crappie respond to color of jig you prefer, i would like to hear what everyones opinion is.

Dark water darker colors work best for me....clear water , lighter colors. It looks like it ought to be the other way around, but its not.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Great looking jigs, something thats been working for me in the last couple of years in stained water has been a blue body chartreuse tail with a hot pink head. Weird looking combination but the crappie sure do like it.
Dale, I think you tie some bad a** looking jigs. Every one you put up here looks like it would put fish in the bucket. I like that chubby profile.
Anyway, that orange/black/orange is one of my go-to combos as one of my home lakes is a green, silty stained water lake. I use orange/black/orange and orange/black/chart and orange/purple/chart on that lake.
I also use the chart/blue/chart combo quite often. Strangley though, that is my best producer when I'm in less stained water. Lemme say that all the lakes I fish are stained, but the degree of stain varies with the amount of rain, water leverl, and amount of boat traffic. So I call water "clear" when water clarity about 15-20 inches. I call water "stained" when clarity is 12" or less.
I use the blacks and oranges and purples combos in the more stained water. I use the blues in clearer water.
Anyway, great looking jigs. Good luck with em.

I guess I don't consider 20" clear water.... I fish 3 different small reservoirs that you can count the rocks on the bottom in 15' fow, so my standards to go by are a bit different. Very few lakes I fish are creek or river fed, mostly upground reservoirs. I have even downsized to 2lb. line and notice a difference in number of bites, and also number of lost jigs.![]()
I use as close to natural in my clear water and believe that size is a bigger factor there. I start to throw in brighter colors the dirtier the water I fish.

I agree with black crow. Its funny that I agreed with his comment, then looked at where he fishes. We dont fish the same lake, but its the same water, if he fishes the main Tennessee River!!
