Thumbs up Testing brimreaper's new jig.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have agreed to put a few of breamreaper's's new jigs through an "on the water" test.
The jigs are 1/100th oz minnow head on a #12 hook. The one I tested today was tied squirrel tail. (I think) lol I think this jig would be a killer on a size 8 hook also.
In the 1/100th oz, this jig would throw nicely with a fly rod.
This afternoon I took the jigs for a 50+ mile ride to a local strip mine. It was a bright sun. I most always tip jigs and forgot my wax worms. Good thing I had a few red worms along. I started catching fish right off. They were a little smaller than I had hoped for, but lots of them .
I also picked up a couple air head Green Carp ,but nothing big.
As I got more towards the deeper water, the size finally came up some.

I did try using just the jig without tipping , but as normal with me no takers.
I finally did get one of the larger gill girls that are in this lake.
After fishing this jig for 3 1/2 hrs or so, I am impressed. It does catch fish and it is hardy. I only hung up twice in 17' of water. Once I was half asleep slow trolling and set the hook hard on a deep tree. . I got lucky and got it off.
I caught a LOT of fish but left them there so I and my son can get them again later. lol
I should have mentioned that I was in the float tube and deadsticking with an 8 1/2ft BigDaddyRods Hybrid spinning outfit. Deep slow troll was best most of the time.
Thanks breamreaper, for the chance to use these nicely tied jigs. Illinoisgiller
