    Default Make em straight

I couldn't find anyone else commenting on this so I thought I would add it.

I use a lot of tails and fur and have found it hard to find good straight hair. I now use a hair straightener to make it straight. It can make even the nastiest curly hair and tails straight for perfect ties. It does take a little work but getting them wet or using steam will help the process go faster.

I now have very little or no waste using squirrel tails and kip tails and have used it to straighten the short hairs of elk when tying in wings and such.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

fish4all, I like that idea! does your straightener have two opposing hot plates, or does it have a comb incorporated into it? also, on the kiptails, would you try to straighten the hair while still attached to the tail? I googled up a distributor and there were so many models, some were called flat irons and others called straighteners, but they both had flat ceramic plates to iron the hair. does the kiptail stay straight? ...thanks in advance...kip

Steam works on Peacock Herl too, plumps it up, especially herl that's been dyed.

The one I used was a simple cheap 2 sided metal plate version. The hair stays straight even after getting wet or did for me. It took a while but I was able to straighten the last 1/3 of an entire kip tail while still attached.
