    Default Attention!!!! all jig tyers

To everyone who has had any problems with Matzuo sickle hooks breaking, not fitting in jig molds etc.... Please send them to me so the owner can address this problem that seams to be a problem. I talked to him this morning after I sent him a email from one of our own and he wants to nip this in the bud ASAP and found it a disturbing find,,,to say the least.
Send all your broken hooks etc.... to me as you get them ASAP

Well I still like their sharpness and the extra gap, but breaking is not a good thing. Also the eye not being closed and the barb being on the side of the hook is not good either.

I put mine in the mail today and tell him that there was a good many more, but I didn't save all of them.

The first guy I bought my jig heads from wanted to stop buying them almost from the start, but I talked him into keeping them. He finally just quit making jig heads after a couple years of dealing with him. I kept waiting for them to get their QC up to just decent, but it has not yet happened.

I still like their sharpness and wider gap so I'll put up with the bad ones with the open eyes which I pitch and the open bent hooks which I'll try to bend back sometimes.I get a lot which don't lie flat in my molds but they still pour ok. Hopefully, QC will improve.I've been using them for four years and truly believe that I've caught more fish since I started using them then I would have caught with aberdeens of the same size.Overall,I'll give them a 7 out of 10 rating.

The problem I had with the flat eyes was taken care of by Shorty's ASAP. They replaced the hooks with black chrome (by request) no charge for the change, shipped free, before they got the returned defects.
The red chrome really sux - hard to find good red.
The regular 90 lite wire black chrome is really standing up to big bluegill. Have used a size 8 only. Too bad they don't make a size 14 - can't find them.
The Size 8 sickle is a good hook for the BG also.
Still out to lunch on the sickles - seen better quality and have seen worse.....

I've got a collection of bad ones I'll send you. I pour for myself and a local jig tier and have gone through ~5-6k sickle hooks since February. They've been bought from Cabela's, Barlow's, Captain Hook's, and Shorties and they've all had issues no matter the source. Open eyes, hooks not completely or properly formed, and out of flat seem to be the biggest issues. The out of flat is the one that gives me the most trouble as it causes the heads to have quite a bit more flash that has to be cleaned off, especially for my jig tiers.

All that said I'll keep using 'em since they are, without a doubt, the sharpest hooks I can find. Also like the way almost all of my fish are hooked in the roof of the mouth, I've lost less at the boat since switching to sickles.

I got a VAST assortment of them as well. I have got them from all over the world and the QC pretty much is the same regardless of where you get them from. Open eyes, no eyes, barbs on the side, straight as a hat pin, 3/0 hook in a #4 box,not even the same kind of hook either, chunks of wood, lol, you name it and I have seen it. Oh yea, I forgot this pesky little problem, the DREADED HOOK CHAIN, all of them hooked together thru the eyes like a chain. Then there is the red hooks that are never the same shade of red. I could go on and on but this soapbox is getting shaky..lol. But they are a sharp hook for sure and I sell a BUNCH of them. I will keep using them and pick out the bad ones. But they are made overseas and no matter the GRIPPIN', if you are not there to watch them being made, then you are going to get the same thing...lol...THE GOOD WITH THE BAD...!!!!!!
