Tying flies is basically the exact same thing. I know. Until recently the only jigs I made were big steelhead and salt water jigs. But I tied thousands of flies. Incorporating the two is really easy. Just have to end the tie at the jig head instead of tying it off on the hook. I can incorporate any fly I have ever tied into a jig, actually it is easier because a good fly needs a clean finish where a jig head hides the finish off tie.

Hackle is a feather, rooster, chicken, and many other birds give what is considered a hackle feather. Basically is just a feather that has a very thin stem that can be easily wrapped around the hook shank or over other materials.

I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Check out the stickies at the top of the tying board. The hackle goes in the same as just about any other tail material. Look at picts from swap#5. On page 34, AWMiller posted the entire swap in one post. Several are made with hackle tails and JJJ's jigs are with duck. The hackle is the ones that look sparse instead of full and bushy. The duck is white and grey striped.

Nice looking jig,you might have problems keeping gills off it though.Definitely a great little bobber bait.I finished mine last night, plus a few for me to field test.Lindsey has her colors picked out so maybe she'll start hers after school if she doesn't have too much homework. Hers will have a chartreuse hook. Something different....

well looks like there is only going to be 22 of us on this swap and i also have mine tied and am ready i guess. only thing is i hope i can keep the boy out of them while sorting and sending lol (he's 4)

that there spring thing jig looks wild can't wait to try that one .

and 10-4 on the spinners crappie .

and i also have a question do you guys fish with every jig you get or do you put them up and tye one to try yourself .

and when you tye a jig to use do you just tie 1 or 2 or what i have been tying 3 of each i make .

sorry kinda winded but had to ask .

    Thanks,
