I tied up three that I liked and showed them off to my family. Actually got a majority decision (3 out of 4 of us) on which was the favorite, and let me tell you, that dosen't happen often. Now you have me thinkin'..........
Jiggy  Why ya gotta do this to me! lol I have never used (or have) the mylar, but once again I can see it in my future. I really like the looks of that, actually looks like scales and does have the right profile. I tried to build the body up on some with different sizes of hemp string but couldn't get it to hold without slipping and spinning around the shank with out using epoxy or something. Never thought of using glue gun.
I may have to play around and see if that idea can be adapted to jig using a chenille body maybe? That silver one is an awsome looking fly! Thanks, that one goes in my bookmarks! :)

I tried that hot glue thing and let me tell you, I have spider webs from my fingertips to my knees. Hope you make it work for ya. Love that stuff when put over something for a body shape.
Have fun all you swappers. Might be ready someday to do another one but not until these holidays are long gone.

I've never tried the hot glue either, but the lead tape thing work very well. You can trim it to whatever shape you want

I wonder who we need to bribe to make a plastic or aluminum mold for the body shape??

Good news, after a few tries I managed to get the body shape I wanted, sorta. It at least seems to hold it's shape and not spin on the hook. Even better, I caught a nice fish on it tonight. :D Went out around 9pm with a bag of salted shiners for one pole with a lighted bobber and planned on casting jigs with the other. Casting a 1/16oz jig with an ice float was not easy with my rod tip freezing up... temp was 22 when I got home. Anyways, only fish came on my jig. Not huge but was 12.5" which is the biggest one I've caught out of this 25 acre lake. Here's the crappie porn....
