Default Mississippi river and its fruits of labor

We usually have great luck on the mighty Mississippi for crappie. The most fun is had in the sloughs and tailwaters of the river that are a bit tricky to navigate but will produce a nice bite and dinner if looking for a harvest. most folks I have came across simply do not like river fishing but i find it to be a challenge as the water changes constantly making it a diverse fishery. we got out 12-26 and 12-27 fishing but the tailwaters was still locked up, so we opted for fishing the lock and dam number 16. had a great harvest of saugers and trying out the new project boat.

is anyone else ready for the spring spawn?, I know I am with the gloomy days of December.Name: crappie ice.jpg

Great job, sure nice to see some activity here. Have you been down to pool 18 for some sauger? It's like a lake this time of year and much smoother that the rock and roll at Muscatine.

yes we frequent there often when it gets crowded up at Muscatine. I wish there was docks but if there's two guys not too bad. i fish the "breaks" a lot and the sloughs just north of that lock 17.

been on fakebook a lot,but miss using the forums.

Great pool to live by plateboat, I fished there often in the late 80's and 90's. Burlington Island has more fishable area than most pools. Even north of the bridge was awesome.

Nice catch! I'm yet to fish the Mississippi but it is on my bucket list this year. Unfortunately from the bank though.
