Fall crappies

Who's ready for the fall? I haven't fished for 2 months and now with football starting I'm getting ready to go! What are some lakes your going to fish and techniques used to catch these fish up to the hard water.
I drift slowly then slip bobber and vertical jig all the way to the hard water. Minnows, jigs and jigging raps for lures.

I fish mostly SW IA, and haven't been out for a few weeks. However, I will likely leverage the same techniques you mentioned; starting on mid-lake structure and moving shallower once the fall bite picks up on schooled up fish. I will have the boat in the water until the 3rd week of October when bird hunting and bow hunting will take priority.
