WTG! Keep hammering them when you can!
Got out last Sat. Kept a dozen and some stripes. Citrus Shad bandit 200 dominated. Mostly between P Mill ramp and 13 bridge. A few across from Hogsback. Trolled for 8.5 hrs on new lithium and still had 43%.....sweet. Only got 4 to 5 out of lead but I kept them for backup and FF. I got the new Xplore installed this week and will be out tomorrow testing out the "follow the contour" feature at 1.6-2 mph.... alot to figure out yet.
I haven’t figured out yet, why lime green or chartreuse crank bait colors have been dominating this season compared to the colors I have relied on in past seasons. But..whatever works,,,,,works best. Glad you had success in between all these inclimant weather fronts and high winds we been enduring. Wind seems to be limiting my time on the water. I don’t mind getting wet when it’s raining, but anymore, I hate fighting the wind.
Bite was very good for me this afternoon. Casting and retrieving twisters on a 1 16th head. Black and green and black and yellow were all i used. Best bite i have had in a couple weeks. Kept enough for some fish tacos but easily caught my limit plus some. Majority where white crappie and males. Caught a few females. Wind was very strong but out of the west and may have helped the bite.
Crappie are still on at missy. Got on another very good bite this evening up in front of the dam off the rocks. Twister tail on a 1/16th head jigged and retrieved slowly did the damage. Had a very nice grade of fish too with 3 over 12 inches and 2 at nearly 14. Several 10 and 11 inch fish. All white crappie and all females. Quite a few guys out today up and down the dam. Was checked by the conservation officer. Very nice young man. He told me everyone he checked had fish. Bluegill were still slow. Only managed 1. I think these cold mornings have probably moved em out temporarily.
Daughter and I got out Sunday morning, did well along the dam; though bite was a bit slow . Water temp was 63* at 7am and water still slightly stained. Took home 18 that were 10 1/2" to 12" . I think the afternoon /evening bite, after the water warms back up, is better than these cold mornings.
