What's your preferred method for these fish? Vertical jig, cast, under a float? What weight of jig? I see them where you're talking about on my down scan and side scan all the time but haven't put together a consistent method for catching them yet.

I like the idea of that material on the jig body which does two different things. First it slows the fall rate down as you said. But it's also soft and will make the fish hang onto the bait longer than if the jig was rock hard. And it also make the body look like a caterpillar in a way. Fish love a bait that floats slowly down into the water column. It give the fish more time to look at it. And natural food floats and sinks slowly in the water column so the fish like that.
