    Default Slow day on Lemon

7:30 am was 51.5 and fishing was scattered. About 25-30 boats on main lake as nobody was doing anything along the banks. Everybody was either drifing or slow longlining jigs. Not many boating fish. I was trolling cranks from 1.2 to 1.5 staggered speeds and best results was in 11 to 13 ft of water as fish where hanging just above the bottom. Caught maybe 30 but kept 15 that were mostly 11 to 14 inches as the 10” mark is my release. Could have kept a limit if were measuring 9” up. Fish quit biting about 12:30 so was off the lake at 1. PICO cranks—simply awesome, fire tiger, and mud bug colors were best. Out of 15 cleaned only one was a male. Caught one bass, pure white in color in 11’ above bottom. Water is cold!

I didn’t see anybody using Crankbaits. This time of the year in cold water, my belief is you will catch bigger fish, maybe not the numbers and you just go slower. 1.2 to 1.4 mph. I had a catfish about 20-30 lbs on yesterday and finally lost him when 2 of the back hooks on the crankbait broke off. The Southern Pro Rods I use just don’t break!
