Wife and I spent the past few days at Brookville, she had time off work (as did I) so we decided to try a camping/fishing trip out.
We showed up in the evening Wednesday with intentions of trying for some catfish. We fished for bait before dark, and headed towards a few spots I wanted to try out.
Long story short, none of the spots I had picked produced anything more than a few small fish, but the one point we had good luck trolling and jigging on was hot the first night. We couldn't keep poles in the water, caught numerous smaller channels, and she hooked a nice sized channel that we almost got netted. I warned her a little late about watching her line around the motor and the anchor line, and after the first missed net attempt it fled down and snagged the anchor rope, and broke off. It looked to be in the 7-10lb range to me. I've been using our trolling rods rigged for catfish,
A little later she hooked another "decent" fish, so I grabbed the net and was a little surprised to see a 22" walleye churning the surface. It had hit a 4" live pumpkinseed/sunfish. We took a quick photo and turned him loose.
The next day we got an earlier start, and had warmer weather. We picked up our bait early, so we headed to the closest flats to get rid of some crawlers we had. We pulled jigs tipped with (half)crawlers at about .5 to .7mph, and had a good time after we figured out "bites" from rocks- and stopped fishing jigs missing worms. We caught several tiny catfish, and 3-4 small walleye. Maybe 1 that was long enough to keep but we released everything. We had many more bites that just clipped the worm down to a nub. Made for a fun time though.
We tried catfishing again after dark, but didnt have much luck. Caught a couple smaller channels and had bites, but nothing exciting. We quit a little early and headed for bed.

Nice report and great to get out like that. Glad you got some fish. Brookville has a lot of fish to be had.
