Default Spanked at the Cat/Did Ok Thursday

Wow! I thought fishing slowed down Thurs with a temp drop in the wate down to 63 as several days ago it was cracking 73. Thurs at Lemmon caught about 50' keeping a dozen nice crappies and 2 gills. But the Cat spanked everybody that fished it today and about noon they were all loading up and when I took out at 3:30 only 3 vehicles with trailers left at the parking lot it was that slow. About 1pm found some tree tops in about 7' of water next to deeper water and for 30 minutes nailed 20 with 4 all 11 to 13" and then that spot was done as I left it and returned a hour later and picked up 1 more 7" dink. All day I didn't catch but about 10 total dinks long lining and 1 really super nice gill, couple small bass and that was it for 7.5 hrs of fishing. Chatted with a local that was taking out as I was and his comment was worst day he has had this year also. Weather was screwed up last 2 days with wind out of the east and all day today, Was dodging rain that went east and west of me also with both days of wind and choppy water. Water temp yesterday started at 62.5 and ended up at 67 and this morning was 63 and ended up 65. I will say the cat looked great and will be back First of next week as it warms. Turned all fish loose today to catch another day. Also, both days, I spent couple of hours at each lake trolling bandits and arkies and not one hit on the crank baits. All the fish wanted the tubes injected with crappie nibbles as I tried every color, hair, feather, curlie tails, today also. Chrturuese and black/chartreuse were my hot colors.

nawww! Just a dude that has chased fish for over at least 50 yrs and if ya don't get spanked, it keeps the fire lit in you to keep at finding them to spank them back! And the forum could use a lot more fishing reports from diff. fishermen at diff. lakes.

I am with ya on that cevans...BUT there are so many people that "lurk" a lot of people are afraid to report as good as you do. I'm glad you do because I try different things that are working for you per say on the waters I fish. River scum also makes good posts about fishing in his parts of the state and I think he can tell you for a fact that if he says where he is that there will be a hundred people there the next day.
Thanks again for the great report and if I can ever get out the information and how you caught them I will try on the places I fish.

thats a fact jack! lol maybe not a hundred the next day, but for sure after a couple days. lol

it is a huge problem, for sure. my reports dont contain locations anymore. i like helping people get some fillets, but im not handing them out from my spot. i find my own hot spots from knowledge i have learned and earned over 40 years of searching. its not necessary and its just better to keep the locations to yourself. especially on the internet!

You can lead a horse to water, but ya can't make him drink. Same goes for fishermen on big waters, they still have to find and catch em.

I think Friday was just one of those day's. East North East wind all day. I went up to Raccoon. A week ago my friend and his father caught 62 in an area that I fished. 2 of us only caught 11. All fish still had eggs

ok, thats where it differs. your dealing with thousands of acres, where we are dealing with hundreds of acres up here. our ramps park 5-20 rigs. how many the big res. park? can a hoard of boats wipe out a big res.? maybe not, but can they wipe out a 300 acre natural lake? you bet your alewives, and in about 3 weeks! and that is with only a 10 rig parking lot. its a big deal, when you change the numbers around. believe that.

Hey, I definitely agree with you on small waters. Red ears down here on small waters are biting with a frenzy and yu haven't heard a peep out of me.
