    Default Raccoon 10/27

Caught 15 hooked and had probably 10 more more come off due to being barely hooked. Wind was blowing 11-15mph gusting at times. Fish were hitting pretty good probably missed at least 20 more due to not being able to feel the hit because of wind. By the time you realize they had it they were spitting it out, could feel the jig barely skin hooking and popping off. Id say the bite is really starting to turn on, water temp was 62.3 deg. Water is down quite a bit my truck and trailer dropped off concrete slab about 6 inches when backing in at Walker, had to put in 4 whl drive to get back over the edge due to being way in the water. This may be the last time for Raccoon might start going to Cataract. Boat dock at Walker was about 4-5 ft lower, had a ramp hooked up on bank you had to walk down to get to boat, was fairly steep. Did catch 4 decent ones about 11.5 in long and 3 that were 9.5-10 in, rest were dinks 8 in long.
    No fish were kept.

Glad you were able to negotiate the launch ramp. Sounds like the fall fishing is good. I saw a pretty nice report about Morse Reservoir last week. I would think Cataract should be good too.
Doug - got hooked on LUND!

I hope you do better than I did at cataract. I went down there yesterday. Was there about 4 hrs. I could find them on livescope. But they didn't want anything I had to offer. I tried different jigs & colors. I did manage to entice a few but it was a tough day. All 6 that I caught went back in water. Not many boats out only 4 at the ramp that I was at. Good luck D if you head that way. Warmer temps. coming this week.

Curly I havent fished Cataract in a long time but use to go there and limit out pulling jigs. Had a jon boat with trolling mounted in the middle of boat and would go out into the mouth of a cove and drift sideways back into cove along drop offs and stumps. Never failed to limit out that way plus caught some really big channel cats.
If nothing else will be a change from Raccoon it just gets fished to death, used to you could sit back from a tree top and catch 40 crappie off of it now they get hammered all day long like a assembly line. They get shy real quick seems like. Was talking to Conservation Officers there a couple weeks ago and they said fishing has really went downhill there in last 2-3 yrs, said they were getting a lot of fisherman asking/complaining about why fishing is so bad.
Thought about going to Glen Flint but last couple times I went there all it we caught were 6 in crappie, caught one that was maybe 8.5 in. Used to go there in the early early 90s and tear them up. Raccoon is probably done for the season as water is going to get so low as to be dangerous to launch except for ramp by dam and its a muddy mess usually.
