    Default something new yesterday

as some of you know or figured, im a lil on the cheap end. lol so cheap i never bought a flasher for ice fishing. that has changed as of yesterday. my open water approach mite have changed a bit too. i picked up an old vex for cheap from a friend. tried it out yesterday for a while. started out off the channel edge in clean water and looked around. i found a few bass in a stump field, and had fun jigging them up ice style. at the end of the stump field, where it goes into a bay/flat, i found a big schoool. it was our friend the crappie. i had to go out to the edge to see my jig on the screen and play with the flasher. lol was really fun watching them come up and thump it. usually i fish blind after locating fish in open water. well, i stroked a limit in about 45 min. used a 2"twister the entire time(only took 1 rod with that on it with me). fish were holding 4-7ft down over 10fow. came home with a limit of bass and crappie. no hogs in the sack but plenty of fun for sure. must have released a limit of runts, under 10". a handful of runt bass released too.

added to the trout i had thawed out, (my planned meal) they made for a great fish fry for my thanksgiving meal! no turkey but bloated just the same.

Riverscum, i really didnt expect the day to roll around that you would buy a flasher. The fish were in trouble before and now they dont have a chance. Whats next....200 dollar noodle rods?
Flashers are a blast to fish open water with. I use mine night fishing a lot, with my ice rods. Its a great time catching fish on 1 and 2 lb line on 24" ice rods in the summertime when they have a lotta fight.

I use my Vex flasher all the time. When it says fish are there, they are there.

Hey river scum when you decide to go ice fishing I have a 10 inch gas powered auger. Makes drilling holes easy. Just kidding, Glade you like the flasher . I want to get one myself. I have a helix 5 that says it has ice fishing mode on it. though about just buying another transducer
