What water---where

Got on the water early am. Water temp 65-66 degrees and a little stained. Started shallow thinking the spawn would be in progress, no luck. Moved to 10-12 ft of water and caught a couple of small ones. About 45 minutes before time to leave (11:00) I tried a brush pile in 20 ft of water. Caught 10 crappies that were 10-13 in, one 2 lb white bass, and lost a really big catfish that straightened out my hook. Vertical jigging 1/16 oz jigs in black/chartreuse worked the best. All females appeared to have eggs and the males were still black.
Your measuring water surface temp. Water 10 ft. deeper is colder. In big lakes water is still cool to where they are still getting ready to spawn because of all the cold weather we have had this spring. Water temp right now on East Fork of the White River is 67 and fishing is screwed up as fish are getting ready to spawn. All the river fishermen are complaining about screwed up fishing this spring. Buddy of mine has been bass fishing it all week as he has a club tourney tomorrow and the bass are getting ready to spawn on it. Smallies aren't hitting the lures either. Fishing the rivers this year has been screwed up by water temp, muddy, and bouncing up and down with all the cold rain also.
