I'm not talking about sharing locations. No-one should share information about specific locations. Keep it general, and heck, you don't even have to mention the lake if you don't want. If it's a big lake, maybe it's not that big a deal to share "which lake", but if it's a small lake, no need to spoil it for future fishermen. But certainly sharing techniques and pictures is not a terrible thing to do. And sharing the comradery of the website with a displayed decal should also not be terrible. We're all here to make friends and enjoy the sport "together". Heck, being able to share successful experiences with your friends is half the fun. It inspires, and motivates me to fish harder when I see others succeeding. Some of the most fun I've had in on a river barge watching others catch fish, making new friends.

I wear my cdc hat r everywhere I go, my cdc shirt every time I fish and have stickers on my boat and suv and I hope someone stops and ask me about cdc.if it's s spot I found on my own will take you to it, but not one that someone showed me. I fish a big lake and couldn't fish all the good spots if I fished everyday, so I figure help someone else out.

i still advertise to some fishermen that i feel deserve it. but most can sit n spin IMO. its too bad it has to be that way, i truly enjoy helping people catch more and bigger fish.

I agree with you on being to detailed in your report and that others use it to guide them in fishing specific areas. At talquin, I report on the color, depth and speed. Reccommend to new fishermen, follow the boats. Fish the outside edge until you learn the lake. There are a few who will see you catch a nice fish and the next thing you find that this individual is 30 feet behind your boat. The last guy that did that, I put him on one of the famous Talquin stumps.

It doesn't hurt to share basic info and pictures. Make sure the pictures do not have landmarks that help the lazy ones.

I'm sporting the logo wherever I go in Indiana. Have been for 2 years. I'm not worried about the crappie guys following me...I use the logo to decoy all the bass guys from watching me :Rofl

I see quite a few stickers on boats at Slab Master events.

I found this to be very true not only online, but just in talking with people at work, church, or the bait shop. If you let any information slip about a good catch there will be tons of boats on those spots the next day. I went so far as to tell some guys at the bait shop about a hot spot on one of the local lakes I fish, and the next day three of the four were fishing the cove in the exact spots. To bad the cove wasn't actually the spot, but they pestered me until I gave them some information. I've met and fished a couple people from the site on spots they had dialed in and I never return unless they our with me or say its okay with them. I am an average Crappie fisherman who loves to fish with different people to learn from them, not steal their spots.

At Talquin in florida, most of the guys will give you color, size head, size lead and depth. If you see them catch fish, give them a wave and continue searching for you own. Many times I see people and hear people (water carries) hey let's go over there, he just caught a couple. Heck a few will call you on the phone and ask if you need any help catching them. I don't fish the packs, I do fish away from the packs. There is a lot of water to fish and it is more fun to hunt, especially for crappie 12" and above. Quality not quantity.:fish

Chuck,all I did at Talquin was tie a rope to a cleat on your boat and did not even use my gas.Pa Pa Sage told me that was THE WAY to fish Talquin.Your boat or Hookers.:Rofl

Had the same experience as riverscum. Made a comment in response to someone seeing my son and I catching a bunch to go back a couple days later to see 10-12 boats fishing for crappie on a small lake I had never seen more than 1 or 2 boats doing so before that. No more details from me, learned my lesson. Funny thing was we never seen one fish caught by anyone in those boats but were catching our share again, just on the opposite side of the lake. Too many people too lazy to do the work to figure out the fish.
