Brookville lake

Ive got a newer boat that hasnt seen water yet and our freezer needs re stocked with Crappie, does anyone know if Brookville is iced over? or have a update on conditions?

Tom, I was there fishing Thursday and it has 12 inches of ice over the whole lake. It's going to be a couple weeks before you can use a boat.

Brookville is going to be rising, with 10-12in of ice, it mite rip some of the standing timber up. I went out yesterday with 3in of slush on top of the ice. the fish didn't bite for me but the day before we did alright. the weather man is saying below normal temps after this warm up so the ice isn't going anywhere fast. with the creeks running in you mite be able to fish the backs of the coves but the water will be muddy for a week or so after all this run off and rain.

Thanks for the update Bluedrifter, I havent got my hopes up just yet, actually went fishing on 14" of Ice Monday, and saw 18" thick ice slabs roaring down my creek today, so there is hope that Spring will arrive someday! I ordered a spider rig outfit this week with 4 14ft poles so I will have some work to do on the boat before I get her on the water.

No, I believed You and I am appreciative for the advise, I just thought a thread would be easier to get updates on current conditions.

Brookville came up about four feet from last weeks rain and snow melt. there was open water around the banks and in the back of the coves. I took a small raft out to the ice. the ice was soft at the edges but still solid after that. it is still solid enough for ice fishing but you need to be more careful of where you walk and watch for bad ice. I took the raft with a depth finder out in the back of a shallow cove and the temps on Saturday were 44 degrees. I didn't catch anything though. they are letting water out of the lake and it should be back to winter pool by the end of the week. I am hoping to find some fish thru the ice this week. they should be stacked in that warmer water that is trapped under the ice. with this colder weather coming back in it could be april before the ice is all gone. I am wondering how it will effect the early season spawners like the walleye.
