I'm going to give a go this winter. I'm a bass fisherman normally, but I grew up crappie fishing and still love it. And I'm a certifiable river rat; no place I'd rather fish on a daily basis. I just have never pursued crappie, in the winter, anywhere but Rough river. Head way up river and fish jigs shallow. I would assume the Ohio river creeks are similar. The water color would seem to dictate that. Its just a pretty good learning curve, but I've been catching em lately. So I'm going to try to follow them. We will see what happens.

Hes talking about the meldahl pool creeks larry......................... I have fished and fished those creeks thinking that I just sucked and never would figure out the creeks...... Then I went you know where in Indiana and it was like fishing in a bath tub. explains why everyone from around here travel to Indiana to crappie fish the river tribs. I now feel like he does. these creeks here offer fish but not like ones you guys got into WITH NUMBERS....... Im not taking up for him, im just saying that I know where hes coming from......... These creeks SUCK compared to there.

Sounds good. Hope I don't have to contend with ice. I just wish the creeks in the lower Mcalpine were better, and there were more of them. Sure would save me some gas money. Although Harrods creek has given up some good numbers during the spawn. Just not like the creeks I've been fishing in the Cannelton pool. I can be at the river in ten minutes. Been driving over an hour to get to where I've been fishing. These crappie got me pretty tore up right now. Going to try Harrods creek tomorrow. The Marinas are a gamble now; get run out of most of them. They should be pretty quiet this time of year though.

haha, you kill me with these pichers larry!!!! Not sure, I may have sucked there but Im fishing the same way as in Indiana and catch fish there......... wish you were in the boat with me in the meldahl pool creeks. They just seem like totally different animals to me.............................. Funny thing is I stomp bass, gills and wipers in the creeks in meldahl pool while fishing for crappie....

Pretty good day on the Mcalpine. Got a limit on jigs in about two hours.

Didn't see this till now. Dang, looks like I should have got on here and defended myself. Definitely wasn't trying to step on toes with that comment. Should have been obvious I was joking. I apparently know nothing...
