best line for bank fishing

Been doing a lot of walking the banks on shelbyville lately and losing a ton of tackle. Just curious what line most of you use. Been using 8 lb mono but I think it may be too light.

i use 10 lb. braid. The name of it is power pro. size of 2lb. mono. cast a mile and can usually get your jigs back

I've used braid for asbout 15 years, and have found that they all are pretty good, the ones that are on sale are usually the ones I buy, but would have to say that power pro in 10 or maybe the 15 are the best. The 10 casts a lot further. I also spray real magic on the line and believe that it helps.

I love fireline! Buy what I hear it will ice up and freeze to the spool. I have another reel with the 10lb power pro. I also take the hook and straighten it out to weaken it a bit. After doing that once on the hook, it seems to pop out better. I do have to fix the hook a little more but I can do that quicker than retieing and with my gloves on.

Good tip with straightening the hook some to weaken it......thought I was the only one that did that.

I am a fan of power pro. Reel Magic is the bomb as well.
