Dawson Lake

Have not been to Dawson for a very long time. Is any target fish there worth an hours drive?

I can't speak to what one considers worth the trip. However, HOI Crappie Club usually has at least one tournament on Dawson per year. We have been doing it for better part of 10 years. At first the just about every Crappie was 8". If you managed to land a couple 8.5" fish you had a great shot at winning. Last year, 10" Crappie seemed to be the norm. The best part about Dawson, it's a great place to take kids. The action can be non-stop. If your after trophies, I'd recommend another lake. But if your after a bunch of fish, Dawson is hard to beat.
