Just read that they are going to demo Eagle Creek and build a new one. DNR says Eagle Creek Resort should be demolished - News - The State Journal-Register - Springfield, IL

I'm going to say more stupidity on this. Spend millions to build another resort where the first one failed? In my opinion they need to face the facts, Illinois has a very short outdoor water season. This is not KY or even Table Rock, There is not that much traffic on that lake( I spent last summer on the bridge at Fox Harbor) to support it year round, what they will make of conferences and new years eve will not cut it. Reminds me a lot of the "World Shooting Complex" down at Sparta, even the hotel chains wouldn't build to support it because they knew it would be empty most of the time. People had to camp or go almost to St Louis when the Grand came.

A nice Marina with decent food and beverage, a few cabin type lodgings and be done. Nothing too elaborate/expensive. Keep cost in line, people will use it more.
