Default RAMSEY AND HORSESHOE LAKES CLOSED!

My favorite lake is closed. Still trying to find out if we can still fish or not. My buddy works for IDNR, and it's unclear whether they will allow fishing. He said that at first fishing would be allowed, but this afternoon they were being told it may be otherwise. I'll let you know if I hear anything. They were start to spawn there last week, so this could be a real bummer. Article below:

I read that this AM and couldn't believe it. Illinois is almost at the top of the list for poorly managed states. I don't want to start a political deal but its a shame we have what we have. Those that live here know what I mean. Thats all I have to say about that!

I had lived in Illinois for most of my life until May 2014. That's when I took an early retirement from my job and sold our home and left.

I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk when I say it but I'm thankful that we were able to leave when we did. My wife keeps up with the news from our former area by reading the Belleville newspaper online and it's sad to see how fast things are going down the toilet.

i dont wanna throw a log on this fire but i spend a great deal of money to hunt and fish over there and after seeing the way other states take care of things for the public to enjoy i'd have to say illinois is very poor. seems like no matter where its at in the state someone has their hands in the other guys pocket. always money comes up missing and things that are supposed to get done there is no funding for it. pretty sad bc there is so much oppurtunity there for sportsmen

Hard to believe they can't take care of a bunch of land that was donated to them.

Got the call saying my duck blind registration is cancelled until further notice. Wonder if they will be up and running by duck season

I hate how they close off 2/3 of the lakes access points because they don't want to take care of it. Millions of dollars to develope only to be closed off to the public. Really?!!!

thicks thanks for posting this. I fish Horeshoe as well. Usually it pretty good during the spawn. I assume they will be locking the gate and no access, but I sure hope not.
