Ventured out to Lake Erie last Sunday to fish with a buddy who's there for 2 weeks pre fishing big walleye tournament coming up. Never had been there. What a Lake!!
Monday air temps in 30's and 15 mph windows with 2 to 4 foot swells..Tuesday was colder and worse so we couldn't go out till the afternoon when it laid down to 2 to 4 foot swells and Wednesday we fished in 4 foot swells plus that got us rocking. Water temp was 41 degrees and the fish had lock jaw from all the snow and cold temps. We managed a few fish each day with these two the biggest at 8.7 and 5.5 lbs.
We pulled deep diving cranks on planner boards, and fished anywhere from 6 to 8 miles out....could barely see land sometimes.
Like crappie fishing a whole lot better ..
