If you are going to the IL River in LaSalle, go a little further and fish Lake Shabbona. I have a 30" fish on the wall from there caught in 1989-90. Caught another 1/2" longer a month later and released it. Sure there are still some bigguns in there. Caught one about 7# 3-4 years ago. Smallmouth are great, too.
