Shabbona 7/31

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice on Shabbona. Went out there with my dad this morning, on the water around 8. For some dumb reason I went against my instinct and listened to the guy at the bait shop that said tons of crappie were being caught on the cribs off the main lake points. We spent over 2 hours trying all of them, as well as the deep submerged trees with nothing to show.

Finally with about an hour left we went to the no motor zone and fished some tree stumps. We ended up finding one that was holding crappie. We ended up catching 13 (lost 2 at the boat), kept 7 of the bigger ones, though none were true slabs. All in all a fun day, though we could have had a 50+ fish day if we started where we finished. Everything was caught on minnows.
