GOD I hate it when you type in a lengthy. witty report and click the wrong button and it ALL disappears! So here is my second try...
People that know me, know that I am obsessed (crazy) about fishing and hunting and have been known to have spent a LOT of hours straight through on my boat FISHING. Having said that, I can make my report for the last two outings.
I went out last weekend on late Saturday and went out of Wolf south with minnows in tow – sorry Jerry. Ended up spending the night at the Lythia Marina area in the hopes of Crappie and other nighttime denizens like Catfish and the like. While I caught Crappie, most were unders and no other denizens were harvested but I also noticed a great number of Carp milling about – no takers though.
At first light headed north to Point 5.5 for Walleye and Crappie but within a short-time the winds were too much for me and I headed for the coves nearby and after a LONG time finished out my limit with a few nice White Bass in hand. A lot of this was on Slip-bobbers and a number on my two-hook sets. Wind was tough…
Yesterday, I finally got on the water after 8 AM and once again headed south but try as I might I could not find a brush pile I have marked on my GPS and fishfinders. Decided to try my luck at the Lythia area and was able to locate brush in 12’-20’ of water and tried my slip-bobbers and two-hook sets. After a while, I decided the two-hook sets were producing better and began slow-trolling over any brush I could find and began catching Crappie. Not big ones but consistent and most were 9” to a tad over 10” and I am happy to note they were thicker that the ones I caught the weekend before which I felt were thin. I covered most of the cove to get this though…
Spent A LOT of time there and did well and on my way back found that brush pile I had been looking for and finished out my limit using my two-hoot set that many times produced two at a time…
Was done, boat loaded and back home before the storms hit.
