Kinkaid /Egypt report
Well are timing was perfect again my partner and I arrived in Murphysboro Wed late afternoon temp 71 degrees got supper, motel , and woke up to temps in the low 40s, 2 inches of rain fell over the night, light rain continued tru much of the day. North end of lake was like a cup of coffee with way to much cream, water temp north end 50 degrees south end 45 degrees. Fished all day worked some on both ends of the lake caught three fish all day one 91/2 inches and two 10 inchers. Rest of gang showed up Thurs night so six of us fished Friday covered coves both ends worked deep, worked shallow, and in-between. Marked fish could not get them to bite not one fish was caught on Fri by our group of 3 boats with six guys. Early morning snow fell heavily so being the great fisherman we are we decided to head to Lake of Egypt for the day on Sat.. Water temp varied from 48 to 54 degrees was hoping for a little higher temps with the power plant but it was 25 degrees that morning when we got up. 3 boats six guys all day landed 7 keeeper crappie, a few bass, one cat and some bluegills to small to keep. One of the guys did get a 15 inch crappie that he is going to get mounted. Lake Kinkaid is a beautiful lake, has great structure, and we will be back to give it a better try, as usual everything that could have worked against us did.

dang it...crappie chasin' is always an adventure especially when you do a lot of planning. Anyways, great post.

Early season can be a real bear sometimes. Way to keep trying to make the best of it though!

I've never fished Lake of Egypt before. Where did you find these fish on Egypt, coverwise?
-
Go west from Marina to where standing timber appears, just north of 2nd tall standing tree is a hole about 16 ft deep pulled them out of there.

anyone have anything new since we got all of this rain ?????
-
Tried Kincaid Monday upper end was muddy zero fish. Fished a cove by the bluff and caught two in twelve feet of water.
-
thanks endo, I fished Kinkaid Saturday and caught nothing, not even a touch. all of that extra water really put a hurt on them in my opinion.
-
anyone fished kinkaid since the latest rain ???
-
fished Kinkaid Saturday, had 7 keepers. they were right on and in the bank. water was very high and extra muddy at the north end. hoping it has settled down a little by now. i think some fish spawned back in March.
