Not sure where he was fishing, however when I got on Evergreen this morning (8:30am) it was now where near flat, at least by the main ramp. Nice catch!
I was fishing at 5:45 am.....the wind did not start to pick up till 8am..... And yes the wind started to pick up bad! Calling up to 30MPH tomorrow I am not going to play with that much wind!
water temp is 49
Guys any tips on jigs for evergreen?

Nice catch! How deep are they? Going to give it a go tomorrow.
12ft to 15ft seems to be the sweet spot.......may have some males closure. Lot of people closure to bank and did not pay attention to how well they were doing. Temp is 55
how long was that big one?
15in
There was a Bass and Crappie tournament today. Looked to be about 30 boats in the Bass tournament. Most of them were fishing wood on shore.
Biting still the 1/80 and 1/64 the best......sweet spot is 12 to 15 ft of water. Done by 930.....one more pass I was going for the wind socks!

Thanks Wilbur...have not seen you on the water?
I havent been out yet.
How was the weekend on Evergreen?
I would say good......but I am only one of many boats. Park Ranger said they were doing good when I talked with him on Sunday. I plan on chasing whites on Il River Friday and back to Evergreen on Saturday with a greenhorn in the boat!
Dude you got to take me out on the river please please please 😃
Hope you fare better than we did.
Wilbur arrived and the fish scattered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was slow with shorts getting caught and only took home 7. Had a new guy with me and with spider rigging you gotta set the HOOK! Wilbur was doing hot laps around the lake with cranks and at one point from my angle a pontoon boat was going to steal all his cranks or just get in the boat with Wilbur and give him a hug! Waiting to hear the rest of that story. Everyone reporting slow today. Started at 5am with recon and finished at 12:30. All kinds of boats throwing bobbers at every piece of wood but I did not see a lot of fishing being caught. Kinda like hunting if it was easy everyone would do it!!!

I think that guy in the pontoon was texting while driving and not watching where he was going. There was 3 in the boat and none of them seen me till I yelled.
:yikes
Same thing on Banner Marsh- Shovel Lake today. Everyone I talked to at the ramp and on the lake said the same thing, Crappie disappeared. I'm okay with it, my plan today was to map the lake.
Prayers go out to the motorcyclist who ate the back end of a minivan this morning.
2nd the prayers....You mapping with Lowrance?
Same here. Must have been 20 boats beating the banks and every lay down in the lake. Everyone said same thing. So I went hunting. Marked a lot of fish 10' to 11' down in 12 fow. Tried vertical jigging only picked up 1. Started long line trolling and got 10 more keepers and a few small ones. Not great but fun to try something new.
That makes me feel a little better. My dad, brother and I were out at Evergreen on Friday and we only managed one small saugeye (14.5") and 2 crappie (8.5") all too small. We thought the fish were scattered as well. We spider rigged trying all sorts of depths. Better days coming I hope.
I never even marked any fish. With 65 degree water they should of been on fire. Only thing I could think is they must of all been on the bank, which I didnt try.
Wilbur.....I do not see them on the bank today side scanning. They maybe in the some of the little back bays. I side scanned quite a bit today. I went east of the island and saw a few on sidescan in 8ft. East of the buoys. I hunted for about 2 hrs before dropping a line. Was SLOW and two VERY LARGE drift socks kept me at .5 By 10am I was the only boat out drifting. Everyone was hugging the shore but did not see many fish bringing them over the side! My guess 10 boats out today. I was catching smaller fish and kept only three good size fish. Catching them on 1/80oz jigs I dressed up for the dance.

No, I'm using my Humminbird 899 and AutoChart Pro from LakeMaster. I found some interesting structure and started a thread on the main forum about it.

What's the water temp at evergreen before today?
Bill, they are just not there. The population has been severely damaged. When you started coming down the population was decent. There was an announcement made early this year, then retracted, regarding the change in length and number limit. They decided not to change it this year but it is coming. They need to ask the anglers because the hoop net surveys are biased and not really producing mean results. I let this issue be known with several other very good local anglers 3 years ago and they are all in agreement today. The areas I used to go to following "patterns" now have 75-80% less fish. What used to take 2hrs. To get my 10 now takes almost a half a day. Yes , areas that held 4 fish now have 1 , 8 now 2 and so on. I would like to here your opinion after a couple of more trips. I hate to say it and this won't be a popular statement but the population has been mismanaged.
I was there 3 times last year and did good all 3. This is the first time I got a big goose egg. But now that you mention it it has slowed compared to 4 yrs. ago. Thanks Sparky which you would of posted this before I bought a year pass.
For you not to find them, especially pre spawn is a sign of things to come. Drive another 1/2 hour to Clinton and you won't be disappointed. Evergreen will come back if people exercise some conservation during the spawn for sure. Hope for high water.
New creel limit on crappie and sauger this 2015 season?
Yes.....you can go to larrysfishinghole.com to get the info
Anyone planning on going this weekend?
Might give it a shot Saturday, they should be moving shallow. Good luck to all.
