I am a transplanted Illini living in North Carolina. I caught a 29 fish limit on Jordan Lake last week at 32 feet deep. I have caught them in the dead of winter about 44 feet on Harris Lake.
I used to fish Shelby and Clinton a lot. I never fished deeper than about 18 feet. If I was there now, knowing what I know, I'd definitely go deeper in mid winter.
