    Default Cold Water Crappie

Broke the heater out for the first time this year. The lake was froze in places but we manage to break it up and let the wind blow it out of the way and start fishing. You wouldn't think there would be a fish for miles with all the noise we made breaking ice. It must act like a diner bell. I have done this in the past and had the same results with all the noise and just ware them out. Same thing happen yesterday. We broke up the ice let the wind do its job and wet a line. We had to dodge the gulls that were dive bombing the shad after we broke up the ice. Had nice fish yesterday one was 14 1/4 and thick. We used our shad body baits in the salt pepper clear glow and the icicle in chart. glow on a 1/32 head and 1/16 head. Water temps was 32.4 to 33.8 all day...enjoy

Yes Jer. it was cold that day. You had to stay out of the wind or your lines would freeze faster. Yesterday was a nice day until the wind started to blow. We spanked them pretty good with one 13 and some 11's. Water was 41* most of the day. Boat ramp at 9st. was in good shape and no ice on the lake back in the coves or main lake. Looks like another cold snap for turkey day coming. Maybe forecast will change by then. I Like to get out and get limit after the big meal and work up a good apatite for the left overs.. Sorry no pic. on this trip. We got out late and fish till dark and it started to rain as soon as we got the boat in the parking lot.
