Lake Mattoon

Fished Mattoon yesterday and this morning. Caught ALOT of crappie. Kept a few over 10in. Lots of dinks, but lots of fun. All on minnows on the trees in the water.

I took the last 2 weeks off and spent it at our place there on Lake Mattoon. The crappie were biting great the whole time. Was catching most of them in 13 to 20 feet of water anywhere from 7 to 15 feet deep. Tightlined minnows most of the time but caught a few really nice ones casting jigs along laydowns near deep water. Like you said, lots of 8 inchers but caught a good number of 10 to 12 inchers. Sure was fun.

Mattoon in my opinion is on a down cycle year too. Wait till it has another banner year kenny and you'll have even more fun! Good to hear it's still kicking out some good fishies.
