Emiquon? Your opinions please

Just wondering if any of you have fished Emiquon, and if so what did ya think of it? Could a guy catch some nice Calico bass there? Planning a trip on a windless day there soon in the canoe. Any advice on where to target the papermouth's? No live bait, but I can use waxworms right?

Fished there back in late May. Caught a few crappie and bass. My brother outfished me that day. We we jigging around stumps and drop-offs. There are channels running though the north end of the lake as well as an old pond that will probably hold fish if they are back on the same pattern they were in back in May. We fished the north end by the canoe/kayak dock. You can see it in the background of the bass picture below. The wind and weeds can be a bad combination. It was dead calm most of the day we were out there and then a 15 mph wind kicked up from the south. Between the trolling motor loading up with weeds and the white caps it was slow going. We eventually dug out the paddles and made our way back to the ramp. You should have an easier time with a canoe as far as the weeds are concerned. There are definitely some nice fish in there if you can find them. Good luck!

Forgot to mention that you should check the web site. They cater to waterfowl hunters in the fall so fishing is restricted to certain hours.
