How many of yall knew owning a boat was expensive? holy crap!! Its ok, admist constantly spending money trying to get the new rig ready to roll and also working long hours at my other job I have got out to guide a few times. Here is a couple trips from the past little over a week. What I have found personally is that (as im sure a lot of you know) when we have cloudy days the shad come up a lot higher on the water column and this also spreads out the crappie and the spots that might be loaded with crappie the day before on high sun might only yield 5-15 on the cloudy day. So running a lot of spots has been the ticket on those days. If you fish a spot 5 minutes without a bite, move. Im also catching fish 8-10ft down on these cloudy days rather than 11-16 like on the sunny days. I generally run from lone point area to clear up around coal shaft and am catching good fish from every spot along the way. One of my recent trips they didnt want to float slip corks but rather jig or tip a jig with a minnow, I told them ok as long as they didnt care about numbers. We fished completely different pattern and locations than I would if I was drifting minnows and I ended up being completely surprised with a triple limit and the biggest crappie of the summer for me. For you jig guys (myself included) there is spots out there right now where you CAN whack them on a jig and cork, and good ones. Thats about all I got. Some of you yahoos need to get out and post some pics for me to look at while im at work... yous slacking!!
