    Default Weekend at Shelbyville

I know others have more experience and better fishermen. And I wish I was a better one but I just love to be out there. The more time the better.

I like going on an evening as its quiet and sometimes can be productive. For me this year that has been dificult. In fact I end up frustrated and spend even more time on the water. Not only to catch fish BUT to find more areas, spots to fish on Shelbyville.

I don't mind much but the wind and lightening. I didn't go Friday due to weather forecast so I decided on Saturday night IF the weather had a window of oportunity. It looked like a fair forecast so I headed over around 8 pm. Got my minnows and fueled up the boat and decided to try Lythia to put in and fish.

As I hadn't put in there before it took me some time to find it in the dark. Took anther 90 minutes rigging poles and other housekeeping before putting in at midnight.
It was TOUGH. I hate the wind and it was around 10 mph all night and most of the day. Kept nine but the overs were just not there for me. Stayed close to Lythia where I put in as I was worried about the weather. All the bad stuff was just north of me BUT close!

Went through two fairly new batteries just trying to hold when I wasn't in a protected area from wind. I stayed till the, afternoon...

Caught one 16.5" Bass too. Broke two rod tips when wind threw me into structure...

At least the boat traffic was minimal and really didn't see many fishing down south for a weekend. Farthest north I went was Lone Point.

I was so tired on way home I stopped in Assumption and napped for a few. I simply had to as minutes before I had to slam on brakes when I almost missed a stop sign I've been by a hundred times...

I still had a good time. Caught a bunch of Unders and learned that the roof topper I had never used is a blessing on the sun and rain! LOL

I can't speak for Saturday or Sunday, but I played hooky from work on Friday. I fished from about 5:30 am to 3pm from point 6 to just east of Coalshaft Bridge. Went through 5 dozen minnows and caught a ton of fish. But it took till 3pm to get that last over. As long as I could find cover in fifteen feet of water I caught fish. Kept that bobber stop at 10 feet and tore it up.

Unless I get any Intel updates before Friday night I am considering the northern half of the lake and east arm. I store my boat at Leprechaun and trying to get a game plan on for my routine Friday night into Saturday fishing safari. Haven't been that east arm much and haven't fished around Skeeter's at night in a long time...
