    Default Shelbyville 4-23-14

Hit Shelbyville for a couple hours this afternoon and we had out 20 overs on a stretch of bank the conservation shock boat didn't get.Why the hell do they have to shock fish during crappie season and right up on the bank?Caught our fish on jigs tipped with wax worms(always) 2'-4' down in 2-9 fow. using 1/8 chart. head and chart glow tube and chart/white 2 1/2'' gulp alive minnow.I really like the gulp minnow because you can fish those things all day and very rarely have to change them, very durable and when your done put back in the juice and it's good to go next time.Name: 100_0796.jpg

Electroshocking only works to a certain depth and shocking them in shallow water is the easiest, fastest, and most efficient way to do it. I thought all year was crappie season though......

Your correct it is always crappie season but they're not always right up on the bank and they are going down the bank shocking while people are trying to fish, just seems a little crazy to me but this is ILLINOIS.Lol

Mike Mounce who was the one in the shocking boat, is a friend of mine and was doing the job he is paid to do. He was shocking to get brood stock for woods lake. Without efforts like his our lake would suffer. Thank him if you ever caught a sauger in this lake. Camo--seems like you were still able to get a limit, so you must be a good fisherman.

The corp along with Mike did a wonderful job redoing wood lake. It will be a great fishery in 2-3 years.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

There is a sign up on the gate, haven't read it but assume it says something like you can't fish here yet. Plan was a couple years ago when they announced it that it would be left alone and no fishing allowed for a number of years in order to allow the fish to establish and grow.

Can you walk back there and check it out, or do they not want anyone even in there?
