Default A couple of ministers need a little help!!!

Everyone, my dad and I take a father-son fishing trip every year...have been for 9 years. We have gone to some smaller lakes that we know and catch plenty of fish, but we are going to try Shelbyville this year. We are going for 3 days (April 30th thru lunch time May 3rd...both of us have to preach Sunday). We don't want to spend all of our time trying to figure out the lake, so what i am asking for is any advice we can get on where to even start. What is a good camp ground (as dad is bringing his camper), and a good boat ramp. I have a 75 horse on the back of my boat, so we can get about anywhere quick enough, but we like to troll edges, cast and retrieve, and work coves (dad doesn't like being in the open water on the lakes). I do have GPS on my fishfinders, but no idea where to even start. We would hire a guide, but like I said we are ministers (lol...no money!), and I don't know if anyone would want to be with us for a day...our sense of humor would probably make you wanna jump off the boat!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I might even head up a weekend early in order to buzz the lake and get a feel for it for a day. Fishing trips get more special, and you don't wanna waste time hunting for fish, but watching dad smile. He got nailed with breast cancer, and beat it, but lost both breasts, and every second is precious! That's why I want to be able to get somewhere, get him in a fishing seat on the back deck, and catch some fish, laugh alot and make more memories, rather than buzz around from spot to spot hoping and hunting.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who would like to give a little advice with this lake. It might just become our yearly "spot"!

    Thanks in advance...

Wolf creek would be easy, nice campground, you don't have to leave the cove where the boat ramp is because there is sand and lick creeks both right there and you will have fish to catch that time of year.Standing timber, shallow wood you will catch fish.

We don't mind travelling from one cove to another...if necessary. I just don't want to waste time by going to places the fish are NOT! Good cove names, places to avoid, etc. Will definitely put the info in the "hopper", camo! Thanks. Keep it coming!

I second the wolf creek choice. Plenty of places to fish close to the ramp, and should catch fish. Good luck and God Bless.

No they don't, no fish in those coves Nitro. LOL. I agree with both areas but wolf would be the better area, only bad thing is no dock at the ramp unless they build one and put it in this year. But thing depend on the water, weather and thing like that. ask again when it gets closer to your date on coming down and we'll be more than happy to give you an updated report.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

I love this site. I try to help out when I can with others, and love that others help too. It's not a competition...but an opportunity to share a passion and enjoyment!

Yep, right by the ramp and to the right then if you can find your way through the country then on the east side of the cove.
