    Default Lake Shelbyville Report

Looks like with this cold spell the lake is holding on to some soft water. Wilborn Creek area is frozen but the cottage hill area was not froze as of yesterday. Bo Woods area is open but from Whitley ramp east it is lock up. Coal Shaft area was all open but the road going in is iced up along with the road going in to Bo Woods is ice. The ramp look good. All docks have been removed!! A lot of the small coves that are out of the wind are frozen but No Name was open about half way back. Looks like we have another storm coming at us and some more cold weather. Just think its not even winter yet. If I remember right, last Dec. did this and it warmed back up for Jan. Maybe history will repeat itself and warm back up.

Thanks for the report Ken ,I can remember several years when it got real cold before Christmas but turned out to be a mild winter.

I just went by coalshaft and it had a thin layer of ice on it. I am going to try and break a little ice in an hour or so. Hopefully the wind and wave will eat some of the ice up. From the looks of it bo is the same way, but the main lake by Findlay bridge looked open.

so far, this is just what they predicted earlier this year, very cold late fall and early winter. but they also predicted a warm up mid winter. hope they're right for a change, and we get an early spring.

Wilbur you are tougher than me.. lol Looks like it must of froze up over night in the coal shaft area. Its going to get down 2' tonight with 5-10 mph winds. Just got a call from a friend up north and he is seeing massive migration of waterfowl at high altitude headed south. One of the V formations look to have hooves and a red light in the front. Thought it might be a UFO but then again they weren't sure. They were in a ice hut with a heater going and some blood thinner. They most be riding on the front end of this cold snap. Less wing flapping that way..lol. Maybe they will all land on the lake and keep it open till next Friday. Day time high it said wil be 49'

-5 on my truck about 5:30 tonight. I wish some of them waterfowl would stop here for a bit. Next shotgun deer season is the 26th-29th so I could handle a bit of a warm up.

Jeff it was 1' here at 5:00am with light winds. I think that lock up the north end for awhile. Get out the ice auger and get some new blades, looks like were going to need them.

Hope I will getr some ice fishing in this year. The best tasting fish comes through the ice.
Lets go soak a line. Pat
