Default Need advice on fishing Carlyle Lake for crappie in the summer & especially autumn

Okay, I know people are tightlipped when it comes to fishing Carlyle Lake for crappie, but I would really like to learn this lake. I like going to Rend Lake, but I would prefer Carlyle since it's so much closer for me as I'm over in Swansea. I would get a guide, but I have not found one who fishes this lake in the summer or autumn yet. Seems that the guides only fish crappie in the springtime here. If you want to communicate over private messages, no big deal, I don't mind if you want to keep it secretive. I don't plan on fishing Carlyle too much, but once awhile as a change of pace would be nice, especially when I need to get a quick fix. Plus, I'd like to meet some new people around here.

    Thanks in advance.

Well you could go the the visitors center at the main marina and get their gps coordinates of the Christmas tree drops in the lake. There's some of the. That are in some fairly deeper water. The water has been dropping like a rock here lately (not sure of pool elevations) I try to stay on those and away from the obvious ones in Allen branch because those things just get beat to death. If you have a side imaging unit this could be a big help in locating main water stumps just off the river channel. They're few and far between but they can be found. Haven't done very good on those this year but last year I pulled alot of fish off of those. Hope this gets you started as I'm having trouble finding fish myself this year
