Default Lake Shelbyville 11-17 and Lake Mattoon 11-18

Had a trip yesterday with Dave out on the ville. He wanted to learn a bit about SI and how I verticle jig and work a bobber and explore wilborn a bit. We did all of the above and caught fish everywhere we went. Was just a little harder for us to find our overs than it had been. Found our bite was really light and more times than not they would just take the line slack. It sure was a beautiful day out there though, lots of boaters! Coal Shaft was packed! We fished 4-14 foot and caught em on Midsouth White/Chart and HookIts Ky lake Killer Red/Chart. We used his light wire heads in 8th and 1/4oz

Today ol chickenguy and I ventured out to Lake Mattoon to do some fun fishin. We had a great time and had some great weather. We fished 16oz heads with red/chart and black/chart and ended up with 35 over 10inches with 6 or 7 of them going over 12.5"...we had some studs!

Nice job Birdman. My grandparents were from Charleston, and of all the different lakes my grandpa drug me around to when I was a kid, never made it to Mattoon. Never even knew there is a Lake Mattoon until reading about it on here a few years ago. Looks like a good fishing hole.

Good job Tyler . I made it to Coal Shaft around 3 yesterday afternoon and the bite was slow for me . About 45 minutes before dark I started catching fish on Jig/bobber and they were hammering it . Didn't get a limit but did have some nice ones . Sunday went to Pana Lake and and brought home 29 crappies biggest was about 12 ad the smallest was 9.5 all on jig/bobber . Surprised me . I thought they were all small there until today .

    See ya Kevin ><)))*>

Good job Birdman . I was at Selby on Sat. & seen your truck when I left & I was at Mattoon Sun. & seen your truck there too when I left . I agree Shelby was very busy Sat. & I caught a lot of unders but the overs were hard to come by . I did not do so good at Mattoon on Sun. but I did cautch a lot of small ones & kept about 8 bigger ones . The crappie are biting good now in Nov. and I am sure it will just get better .

I believe the term "chickenguy" was coined by birdman on a Rend Lake trip last winter.
